MFA “Fashion design and Society”
What are you currently up to?
I am working on 2013 spring summer knitwear collection for a private label. We just finished first samples and now in process of reviewing final samples for the showroom.
I am also looking forward to showing my MFA graduation collection in New York Fashion Week in September 2012.
Who are 3 artists past or present who inspire you?
Madeleine Vionne, Antonio Gaudi, Richard Avedon
Where do you hope to be 3 years from now?
I want to have more various experiences by collaborating with other artists and designers for a couple of more years, and I want to focus more on my private label after that. I probably will be in New York but will be traveling a lot by then.
If you could have lived in another time period, which one and why?
If I could choose another time period, I want to live in 1950s in Paris. I think 1950s the most romantic time period in fashion to me. I want to meet Christian Dior, Balenciaga and Richard Avedon in Paris and sip a cup of espresso at a café near the Seine.
If you could live anywhere in the world but NYC where and why?
If it’s not in NY, then I will choose London. In my opinion, London is very similar to NY. It is a very multi-cultural city and one of the most important and exciting cities in fashion world. London also offers me quite a lot of merits. Location wise, living in London makes it easy to travel to Europe. Also, it would be efficient for me to communicate since I know the language. Moreover, I love the fact that it captures its valuable heritages and respects the nature around the city. I love their gardening styles and English roses in those unique pastel colors. When I visit London, I am always recharged with lots of energy and also relaxed at the same time by walking along the lake by the park.
What has been the most unexpected thing about NYC?
I was very impressed with the Korean food in NYC. I thought I will miss my home country so much because of its food, but Korean food in NYC was actually amazing! Haha. I never thought that I would have Korean food this often in New York.
