A year ago I went to the premiere screening of VICE’s Fashion Week Internationale. An utterly addictively fascinating series that looks at fashion weeks in other cultures and the subcultures that surround them. (the write up on that one is HERE)
The series is still rocking and recently added Seoul Fashion Week . In this episode, the lovely VICE correspondent, Charlet Duboc, introduces us to the fashion scene and culture in South Korea, complete with an investigation into the shocking “double eyelid” surgery trend, encounters with awkward K Pop tweens, a 4am exploration of the bizarre late night shopping malls, makeovers on the subways, and more. More about the overall ideas of fashion and beauty in South Korea than strictly a look at fashion week it is still very entertaining.
So if you’re stuck at home because of Hurricane Sandy and want a little entertainment I highly recommend checking this video out and then the entire series so far!
