Introducing our favorite force of nature, Kristin Prim. I don’t know where/when I met Kristin but she’s the kind of girl that you feel like you’ve known forever while simultaneously feel you don’t know her at all. Whatever. It works for me.

Check out her instagram and personal website.

I don’t know if this qualifies as a mohawk per se. But I’ll consider it a modern intrepretation.

Notaligne’s now Online!

notaligne
I love.love.love… fashion. So part of what we do at StyleDefined NYC is to try and support emerging and newer designers –provided they have the mad talent and live/work/produce in New York. The tricky thing is that it’s often hard to find newer designers lines outside of a few small and relatively obscure boutiques. So I’m really excited that Jenny Lai has recently launched her own website for her label NOTALIGNE. She was one of our earlier Up|Coming designers and it’s great to see her current success.  I’m personally a wee bit obsessed with the Hole Tent Dress as I am for many things laser cut this spring but this is the first laser cut dress that makes sense to me.

I also encourage you to stop by Underline Gallery this Thursday to see Jenny speak at this event!

Artist Talk / Trunk Show at Underline Gallery

artist-talk-revised

Two women creatives discuss their works’ relationship to performance and design. Moderated by UNDERLINE Gallery director, Casey Burry. http://www.underlinegallery.com/artist-talk-trunk-show/

How do you situate or present a product/project/object which traverses industries (art, design, fashion)?  What questions does this raise about each industry’s standards?

Our friend Jenny Lai is the creative mind behind the experimental brand NOT, which includes ready-to-wear collections and custom performance-wear for musicians and dancers who push the boundaries of conventional performance. http://notaligne.com/

Beau Rhee, director of Atelier de Geste, has shown her performances at Dia Foundation Chelsea, PS1/MOMA, Musee d’art et de histoire Geneve, Kunsthalle Baselland, Switzerland, among others. Her studio, Atelier de Geste, produces work at the boundaries of art-theatre-design. Based in New York, with international exhibitions and stockists. http://www.atelierdegeste.com/

Atelier de Geste Scents Trunkshow
An exclusive preview of Atelier de Geste scents commercial edition (launching fall 2013) will be available for pre-order. The artist editions, currently on display at the gallery, are also available for purchase.

I’m more of a silver girl than gold but she looks great in this gold sweater with black and gold Dior bag.

Parsons BFA Fashion Show 2013

I posted this under REVIEWS so I could make this massive gallery. It’s not a review but a small showcase of the looks from this years graduating class at Parsons New School of Design’s runway show. There are way way too many designers to begin making a review, but suffice to say overall it was a showcase of mad creativity and talent. Some of these designers will be featured in UP|Coming in the next few months but I thought it would be fun to share some of their looks now. Would love to know your favorites! The names of the designers are at the bottom of the photos. All photos in this gallery are by Dan Lecca and courtesy of Parsons. (note: I tried to post 3 looks of each designer. If there are less it’s because there were less runway pix available)
