Polka dots and defined brows

Okay I’ve seen these kind of uber-defined strong brows on the runway and on several of my gay boys. Now I’m starting to see it on girls off the runway and I’m intrigued. What do you think of this aesthetic? Do you like it? Would you do it? I personally feel it’s fresh but my fringe hides my brows as it is so won’t be trying it anytime soon.

Someone once told me blondes should only wear red. Not only do I disagree but I tend to think red is not our best color. Here’s the exception to the rule. And a nice alternative to the standard black motorcycle jacket!

What I’m wearing here is from the label NOT by Jenny Lai –one of my favorite new designers that’s featured in UP|coming. The striped pieces are hers and the black top and pants are Diana Orving and Club Monaco respectively. Her work is strong in both concept and the functionality of the design. What I love about the NOT Fall 2012 collection is the versatility of how you can wear the pieces. This is only one top but there is actually more than one place you can put your head through and create a different look. In the lookbook it says “Autumn/Winter ’12 is an unwelcoming garment.
A garment without blatant entrance.
A closed form.The overlapping pillowcase is closed in its natural state.
The opening an over-compensated closure
A body manipulates its way into its embrace.”

Jeremy outside Ladyfag’s Pop Souk

I saw Jeremy today outside Greenhouse where Ladyfag was hosting her second Pop Souk. It’s an amazing mad gathering of artists and creatives selling their wares, wearables and otherwise or whatnots. Including Chris Habana, Ms. Fitz, Andre Landeros Michel, Geoffrey Mac and of course Ms. Ladyfag herself among others! So fabulous. So fun.

This photo doesn’t do the neon nature of her hair justice. It’s utterly acidic in real life. Love how she keeps everything else predominantly black and white and plays with patterns and textures. And the invisible eyebrows. The opposite of the other growing trend of the super strong brow.

A white lace blouse with a peter pan collar can look a little too innocent sometimes. She toughens it up with a leather jacket and black skinny jeans.

The 3 colors in this look makes me think of color blocking. The red pants really grab my attention…especially the length. This shorter length seems to be growing in popularity with fashion conscious men. The question is: will this look translate to the rest of the male population or simply stay in major metropolitan areas? And what do we think of this length?

Sometimes it’s all about the accessories. Here I’m wearing the Spencer polarized sunglasses with slightly mirrored lenses by Warby Parker. I ordered them at their showroom and they’re not on the website yet. (and yes there IS such a thing as slightly mirrored –you have to see them to see what I’m talking about) I’m a big fan of Warby Parker because all their lenses are polarized which makes them much sharper than normal lenses and I personally don’t understand why it’s so damn hard to find fashionable polarized lenses. Also because they donate a pair to someone in need for every pair purchased which is pretty rad. The necklace is a from CHRISHABANA and I am loving the bright neon colors…and how well it goes with my new Underground Original suede flatforms in an acid green color. And I finally found a relatively cheap and cute leather jacket for summer evenings from ASOS. All this was worn with a white tank and denim shorts.

Drapey trousers paired with a jacket is a nice alternative to the “little black dress” for occassions. And the white and orange color palette is both fresh and on trend.
