Black leather for two

blackLeather
Black leather in this instance is more chic, less rock ‘n’ roll. Jeffrey Gaunt’s Alexander Wang bag is a nice structural touch and Kyle Farmery brings on the glam with bright red lips + nails.

B Hawk works the 3rd eye

I love running into B Hawk Snipes during NYFW. He is so damn cute and nice. The gold triangle makes me think of the threeASFOUR show makeup since they had their models with something similar but purple instead.

The jacket is Margiela, the shorts  T by Alexander Wang, the sandals Virgin Black and the jewelry is Tahari.

Sandal detail -and nice pedicure!

Oh. And did I say a.ma.zing. hair? Comme d’habitude…

A Night with Natalia Kills

Lately I am super hating the meatpacking district in New York. It has long lost its tranny loving edge along with Florent, the best restaurant to view the nightlife provocateurs. But as we all know, New York City neither sleeps nor stays the same – so when I ended up in the ‘hood with the brilliant and lovely pop star* Natalia Kills and our mutual friend Alex Catarinella we ended up doing an impromptu photo shoot which plays with both the old and new meatpacking district.

Natalia’s in the middle of recording her sophomore album with producer Jeff Bhasker (who has also worked with Beyonce, Kanye West and Lana Del Ray). I have no doubt that it’s going to be s!ck. This girl is witty and wicked and has style for days and this comes through in her songs like the infectious “Kill My Boyfriend” (Check out the video at the end of this post!)

Clowning around with Stephen Smith, Alex Catarinella & Ryan Koopmans

And a few things that rock Natalia’s world:
Food
- I love macarons. I definitely have a sweet tooth and the ones from Laduree are classics!
Drink- Earlgrey Tea in the day, Lychee Martini at night
Recent song or album- Zebra Katz “Ima Read” and the new Garbage album “Not Your Kind Of People”
Book- Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palaniuk
Artist- Gwen Stefani.
NYC spot to go out- Tuesday nights Westgay at Westway is wild
NYC spot for creative inspiration- The glass window bridge on the Highline.
Vacation/getaway spot- Paris
Indulgence- Walter Steiger shoes
Fashion designer- Alexander Wang… I love every collection
Article of clothing- My Chole Sevigny dress
Go-to cosmetic- Eyeliner
Favorite thing about being a popstar- Airplanes. I love flying more than anything else in the world…
Historical time period that you never experienced (and why) 1960 to late 1970s because those were my Grandma’s glory days. She’s my idol.

If you want to see more images from our night out check out the gallery below. I also want to give a shout out to Le Bain at The Standard NY as the exception to the rule of the meatpacking district. Especially Jordan Balanchine’s party ZigZag where we shot some of this. (before we got kicked out…but that’s another story!)

*Pop star is not meant in any way derogatory. This girl is a pop star. And an amazing one at that!

Alexander Wang dress / Preen Jacket / Chrishabana Jewelry / Brahmin bag = what I’m wearing now

I was so inspired by this iconic Chrishabana necklace that I decided to make it the basis of a little animation for this post! I’m wearing it with a very short Alexander Wang dress, Preen leather jacket and my standard Seven for all Mankind platform sandals. And I’m wearing my Brahmin Jolie Clutch that I helped design! Close up of rings and bag below.

Rings are from Bond Hardware, Efva Attling, Chrishabana and a thrift store find. Bracelets are Chrishabana.

Love the pink hair + the Alexander Wang clutch…but the overalls?

I realize that I’m posting pink hair 2 days in a row, but it’s becoming so normal that you might mistake New York City for the Capitol from the Hunger Games. Although this girl is far from Effie Trinket and I’ve no doubt had this hair color well before the recent film premiere. I like this pink shade on her alot. Along with the cropped motorcycle jacket and the boxy Alexander Wang clutch. (and speaking of A. Wang, I sincerely hope he is innocent in the whole sweatshop thing) …and then there’s the overalls…I am soooo on the fence about overalls…anyone else? Do you think we’ll start seeing them everywhere or is this a passing trend? Do you/would you wear them?

and a closeup of the bag…which I know was at Barney’s this fall. Not sure if it’s still there/available!

Vintage Style at Ludlow Manor

I think I could post couples all week…maybe I will, we’ll see! I met Albert & Vanessa over the weekend and thought they had great energy and kind of fell for her old Hollywood vibe. I also noticed when I reviewed the shot that she’s wearing the Addison boots by Alexander Wang that I completely covet! And I kind of love how the red rim on his hat matches her lipstick. I’m sure that’s unintentional but works great in the photo.

self portrait sunday -it’s a wang thang

It is FREEZING in NYC. BEYOND FREEZING. Which I hate because it’s miserable but also because it’s so hard to find a coat that is warm and doesn’t make you look like you’re wearing a sleeping bag. Lately I’ve really been into menswear – which is perfect since it has been on the runways. But as a petite female it’s really difficult to find things with a boyish cut that aren’t way too big. And I absolutely hate how many women’s coats and button up shirts have darts up the front or at the bustline when I want a flat front. (like I have naturally so I don’t want to have “air boobs” when I sit down and the jacket will puff out where bigger breasts should be!)
Leave it to Alexander Wang to come up with the perfect coat: It’s flat in front but tapers down so I don’t drown in it and it stops above my knee so I’m not drowning in it. And the fuzzy wool looks like my favorite childhood stuffed animal after my grandmother washed it in the washing machine…matted but in a good way! Worn with: gifted Hue leggings, Jeffrey Campbell boots, gifted Bindya scarf, Banana Republic cashmere cap, Kate Spade bag and (as always) my D&G sunglasses.
