Pale on Pale

I’ve always been worn off wearing pale colors because I could end up looking washed out with my white hair and pale skin. I don’t usually pay attention to this and will just wear a bit more makeup to even things out. Apparently Samuel (pictured above) doesn’t listen to this advice either and the result is great.

Especially love how the nails, his hair and his top all have the same pale beige:pale green ratio. Kinda brilliant…

Ann Yee Fall2012 #NYFW

What they said: A cave – mysterious and dark from the outside, once you enter, there is always an element of surprise. With the silhouettes and cuts for Autumn/Winter 2012, there is definitely more than meets the eye.

What we say: We admit it. Prints can sometimes scare us. But we’re thrilled with Ann Yee’s subtle “cave print” that anchors this collection. The color palette of slate, concrete blue and dusty purple in both the print and throughout the collection beckon us away from the standard black wardrobe. Her chunky knit sweaters and gauzy skirts and dresses balance each other perfectly and the asymmetrical hems add visual interest and intrigue.  These are pieces you’ll want now and will continue to love for the long term.

ANN YEE COLLECTION

What are you currently up to?
Preparing for September fashion week and trying to catch up on sleep! Also trying to get all my AW11 production shipped to stores. August is always an insane month!

Do you currently sell your collection somewhere ?
Yes, at select boutiques in NYC including krisTEEs in Astoria and EVA in the East Village. Also online at Farfetch.com.

Are you planning on showing at NYFW?
I’m extremely excited to be part of Gen Art’s Fresh Faces show! It’ll be my first runway presentation so I’m especially looking forward to it.

Who are 3 artists/designers who inspire you?
Cy Twombly, Iris Apfel, Hedi Slimane

Where do you hope to be in 3 years ?
I would like to be in more stores nationally and internationally and hopefully slowly foraying into more accessories like bags and shoes. Also dabbling in menswear, perhaps!?

Props
