Assembly New York would be a great place to to get stuck if Hurricane Irene ever decided she missed the city and wanted to return. Along with an impeccably curated collection of vintage and designer duds, the narrow dim lit space is cluttered with eclectic treasures picked by Greg Armas’ keen eye. In a short three years of business, Assembly has gained a cult following from the fashion flock and fashion creators, leading to collaborations with designers including Mary Meyers, Makr Carry Goods, and Neji Commu. For 2009 New Years, Assembly asked NY design group Confetti Systems to interpret the changing of time with referential Mexican piñata forms and Mylar. That pretty much sums up the essence of the store.
