Two Noir
I’ve started avoiding photographing people in black because it’s sooo ubiquitous. But because it’s unavoidable I try to at least find looks that capture my interest. Looking closely these two have looks that have more in common than merely the color: from the jackets to the black nail polish to the serenely cool expressions…so is there a cliff notes version to all this?
Last fur – for now!
Because it’s like spring outside so who wants fur right now anyways? That being said, I think it’s safe to say that this is faux fur as it seems to get matted in a muppety kind of way. This could look disasterous but she works the proportion by keeping narrow on the bottom and adding height with those amazing shoes. (he looks good too but we’re talking about fur today)
Cool toned hair
There was a little press recently about Kate Moss streaking her hair grey and little minions following suit. I am not a fan of grey but I think this cool lavender color is a nice alternative. And of course his (natural?) red is pretty great too.
We Are All Made of Stars
Or so says Moby. Whether this is true or not, I do know some of us look like stars. Like these 3 here. There glasses look like Stevie Boi’s and I love the hair on the girl’s with its slightly punk/new wave flavor.
Brooklyn Kids
Are they really from Brooklyn? Okay, not sure but she does have the requisite round oversized frames and long dark hair with bangs…but we won’t hold that against her because she seems rather nice. And I like her zebra print top. And his hat. GREAT hat and you can find similar ones on Canal Street for $5 which is always a good thing.
Rock On!
This is Pete and Kim who I met at the Coffee Shop bar last week. They’re originally from Australia but are currently living and rocking in LA with their band the Hot Kicks. And they definitely look like a certain LA scene but were alot nicer than many LA peeps…maybe that’s the Aussie in ‘em!
3 x 3
Not full length style shot but I love these kids…and I couldn’t decide which photo to put up so here’s one for each. Or three for three. Or…whatever!
Super Cute in Black and White
I love these two: one in all black and one in all white. And then the details: red suspenders and big hoop earrings on her and a jaunty cap, colorful Nikes and a Kewpie Doll necklace on him = fresh + adorable.
legs for days
Okay so the first thing you notice is the height differential. But then…her jeans. These look authentically retro in all their skinny high-waisted glory.
Over the tunnel and through the bridge…
Okay, I don’t know where these two are from but if I went with a stereotype I’d say beyond the outer boros…my narrative is she’s the aspiring Fly Girl from New Jersey or Ronkonkoma and he’s her supportive slightly cooler sidekick. Oh. And it’s 1991! And their best friend is Rosie Perez. And yes, I am making all this up having OD’ed on sugary holiday treats -but that’s part of the fun of people watching. So what do you think their story is?
