After the Hurricane those of us in NYC would like to see some semblance of normalcy return. And when the power goes back on downtown we’ll want to get out and about. Fashion for Action fundraiser to benefit Housing Works’ mission to end AIDS in the New York Community is a great place to begin!
The benefit will begin with a ticketed Opening Night Reception .Designer Thom Browne has returned as Honorary Chair with Co-Chairs Dree Hemingway, Patricia Clarkson and Cat Greenleaf. Stylist and casting maven, Natalie Joos will also host an exclusive VIP Hour. Shoppers will have advanced access to over $1 million worth of designer labels from over 250 designers including Marc Jacobs, DVF and Christian Louboutin all sold at up to 70% off retail. There will also be specialty shops by BCBG Max Azaria, Brooks Brothers and a Chanel vintage jewelry trunk show of curated pieces.
A 4-day free public designer sale at out Chelsea Thrift Shop 143 West 17th Street (Between 6th and 7th Avenues) will follow the Opening Night Reception.
Tickets for Opening Night Reception can be bought through the Fashion For Action site.
All proceeds from Fashion for Action will benefit Housing Works lifesaving programs such as job training, medical and legal care, transgender services and counseling for men, women and youth living with or affected by homelessness and HIV/AIDS in New York-a very timely way to get your shopping done this Holiday season!
Beauty marks have been around since the time of Cleopatra. But leave it to Chanel to give it an iconic twist! Global creative director for Chanel make-up Peter Phillips and his team applied interlocking Cs to the models’ faces to compliment Lagerfeld’s “Versailles in a Socialist France” themed collection for Cruise 2013.
These are sick sick sick!!!
Today I’m wearing a vintage Chanel blouse, high-waisted leather shorts by Dawn Han and my beat-to-shit stripper heels. (let’s call those vintage as well!) And I’m carrying my Rebecca Minkoff tart crossbody bag that I regularly use to go out at night and when I go to the gym. But the real star of the show of course is my dog Nasdaq!
Last night was the official opening of Ludlow Manor, the new lower east side nightclub and vision of Luc Carl. A well known downtown character, Luc Carl has achieved a certain notoriety due to his past with Lady Gaga –something which may or may not be mentioned in his memoir that’s coming out “The Drunk Diet -How I lost 40 pounds….wasted” next year.
Since Carl is known for having a rock edge/aesthetic I was impressed by the breadth of style I saw at the opening –as well as how warm and friendly everyone was. He clearly has a large group of friends/supporters. Pictured here is Savoia of the House of Savoia. Everything he’s wearing is House of Savoia except for the vintage German motorcycle coat. With him is actress Katie Chonacas wearing a Mikimoto pearl & diamond necklace, Givenchy dress, vintage Chanel coat and Chanel Bag. Fabulous.
