Diesel Black Gold fall 2013
Let’s talk hot – and I don’t mean the weather (obvi) but the runway at Pier 57 with Artistic Director Andreas Melbostad riding fast and hard in “Need for Speed”, the fall Diesel Black Gold collection.
To say I loved it would be as understated as the girls strutting past – bold, steaming, sexy, and chic. What immediately stands out is the studs. Yes, they have been around for awhile but Melbostad takes a “more is more” approach and combines them with expert cuts and tailoring that elevates them beyond decoration and really makes them an intrinsic part of the piece. The studded leather mini-dress is a great example of this as are many of the studded pants. Using a wax coating to mimic oil dripping on a wool coat and resin on wool pants moved the line beyond leather. Not saying that coat isn’t on our “most wanted” list.
As someone who has worn a men’s biker jacket for over a decade (and fancied that drowning in it looked somehow “waif like”) the Diesel Black Gold Collection is giving me the impetus to sell it on Ebay and replace it with something from the fall line.
The tailoring impeccable, the fabric finishes unexpected; it’s Diesel Black Gold refined. Or more precisely: cool redefined. –Katya Moorman & K.L. Dunn
Elena & Saida at Lincoln Center
Love these girls –and not just their style and the pink tipped hair– but that they are happy and having fun in this photo –taken during fashion week when most people like to say how they’re sooo stressed or jaded or hungover… so it was refreshing to find them!
A closer look at Elena Moussa’s hair / sunglasses (by SEE Eyewear) / and necklace (necklaces?) of which there is an Erickson Beamon piece…just not sure if it’s layered or all one!
