Our oh-so-fashionable friends at #NYFW
What can I say? I love to see Marcus Mason and Kristin Prim during fashion week. They always turn it out and still keep it real –meaning they look as good whenever I see them and they’re not just dressing for the camera. I didn’t get the details of what they were wearing but if you want to know, I will!

Seen at #NYFW
First, apologies for not posting yesterday. Was running around like a mad woman well into the night! Unfortunately woke with a bit of a cold so will be modifying my schedule today. Hopefully will get some reviews posted as well, but in the meantime here’s one of the people I snapped at the tents yesterday. I love everything about her look except the hat. Not too keen on the “i just got off the boat –or yacht– hat”…but the coat. bag. shoes. SHOES. make it worth sharing!

Seen at #NYFW –patterned tights: a trend to stay or go away?

I love to see patterns emerge in what people are wearing to the shows as opposed to the runway trends. This is just one day at Lincoln Center but I did happen to notice the patterned tight with a short skirt. What do you think? Do you love it or would you leave it?

Lara & Troy at EOC
Lara is one of the owners of my new fave boutique End of Century (yes mentioned on here with increasing frequency) which might explain her casual yet inspired style. And Troy has hair any girl would kill for. And they’re such a damn cute couple I had to post them!

Malcolm from Cheesecakes

Okay. I’m aware that 2 full length photos of the same person could be deemed slightly obsessive for a street style thread, but I love Malcolm’s look so much I couldn’t decide which was a better photo. The mix of print shirt with print tie (tucked in!) is genius and the suspenders add the final touch of je ne sais quoi. And can we discuss the hair? Well, I’m sure over a decent martini we could. But suffice to say we think it’s brilliant. So visit Malcolm at his boutique Cheesecakes ici.

My puppy is a pornstar!
Everywhere we go, the ladies are after him! And he gives me that soulful look that says “I can’t help it…the bitches love me!” So I recently decided to give him a gift equal to his status: a cashmere turtleneck sweater that spells out exactly what kind of dog he is!
The cleverly backwards Pornstar logo sweater was designed by Yumi Hall, a New Yorker originally from Tokyo. She has applied “full fashion” techniques for her sweaters (vs. “cut and sew”). This makes the sweaters fit smoothly with less seams. She also applied “intarsia” to weave the logo making it look and feel smooth even from inside. In addition there are great little accents like sequins on one sleeve and a little pocket on the other –to store extra doggy treats, no doubt!
In addition to the cashmere turtlenecks Yumi creates t-shirts with original Shijuhatte illustrations on them. They’re off-white with black neck and trim on right sleeve and rhinestones along the left sleeve. If you aren’t familiar with Shijuhatte, a kind of Japanese rendition of the Kama Sutra, you can read about it here. While I admit that it’s a bit odd to our sensibilities to have this kind of illustration on a t-shirt for our pups, it’s also eccentric enough that I find it appealing. And Yumi told me that they’re very big with her customers in Tokyo and Paris but Americans, even New Yorkers get a little uptight. Me, uptight? Ha! Now Nasdaq (pictured above) is not just my accessory but is making his own fashion statement!

Raybans in white?
spikes & leopard & plaid, oh my!
I’m not going to lie: I am kind of obsessed with motorcycle jackets. I have one myself that’s from the ’80s that I bought used ages ago. But it’s a man’s jacket and frankly I’m kind of drowning in it. So I’m in the market for a new one and have been paying attention to the ones around me. I love how insane this one is with both plaid and leopard –never mind all the studs and spikes! And can we talk about the shoes? BRILLIANT.
Purple eye makeup + green drink + maraschino cherry = ♡♡♡♡♡

Rethinking the Russian fur hat
I saw this girl half a block away. Or rather, I saw her hat, and it looked really really warm –and it reminded me how people always tell kids how much of their heat they lose through the top of their heads. And that this girl took it to heart! But the way she’s wearing it with skinny jeans and cropped motorcycle jacket is completely unexpected. And the furs around her shoulder complete this urban/fashion version of “the outdoorsy type”.
