Blondes in Stripes
Hippie Chic
Okay, I’ll be honest. My initial reaction to her pants was to cringe. What can I say: it was an honest and inadvertent reaction. And yet…and yet her overall style is really working for her. Let’s call it hippie chic. She has the requisite hat amd an admittedly brilliant black coat that seems would have been appropriate at the Chelsea Hotel in it’s heyday. And while I still don’t love the pants I kinda love them on her. And that’s part of the genius of great style. The whole is ultimately better than yet inseparable from the parts.

Turban Boys
For the past year +/- turbans have been, to my mind, an almost trend. They’d be there for a moment and then get submerged by stronger trends. But I never saw them on boys. These aren’t technically turbans either but they have a similar sensibility. Not sure what to make of them, but like any other slightly questionable style if everything else looks good (as in the case here) it makes you a little more convinced that the one oddity is actually not bad. Or is it?
I am mad for Sophia
Today was my shoot with my favorite New Yorkers wearing 5Preview tees. At the top of my list is Sophia Lamar as regular readers will know. I loved how fabulously she worked her own outfit that I shot her after the shoot as well! Can we say mad for plaid? Only Sophia can make plaid pants look this good. For realzzzz!
Draped in black
Can you “do chic” any more simply than this? A simple dress with black boots and a statement YSL bag. She even skipped the jewelry which leaves us to notice the red on her lips and insanely glossy hair.
2 boys near the highline
You know how friends kinda dress alike? Note the above: sneakers -no socks- with loose fitting pants with tapered legs that end (or are styled) slightly above the ankle…love both their tops -the black on black dot jacket on left and leopard print on right. …so in this case the kinda alike dressing is a good thing!
Bruce, Ian + Glen
Can we say crazy hair love? The twins, Bruce and Glen Proctor have their own line of accessories which you can check out on their site. Their friend Ian, center, doesn’t try to copy the boys’ hairstyle but rocks a look that’s closer to natural. They are all wearing great shoes sans socks! (see below)
Seeing Stripes
I saw Ellie on Broadway yesterday and while it was her striped leggings that first grabbed my attention what really held it was the insane top knot. Seriously huge. Which I love. And with the RayBans? Perfect. Wow, I’m writing in fragments. Better go get a bit more coffee while you enjoy Ellie’s style ;)
