A study in style

Marcus Mason
Sometimes I like to really look at the why of an outfit. As in why it works –makes it stand out from other looks. At an initial glance Marcus is wearing jeans and a t-shirt…which is true. But what makes it unique is the layering of the tees/playing with sheerness, the delicate silver strands accentuated by the feather and the stacked bracelets. The red jeans and yellow belt add nice pops of color but it’s the look en toto that we appreciate.

Pretty in Pink

Effortless glamour in a mid-calf length dress can be hard to pull off –but she works it by not over accessorizing. Lovely!

Two at Gavin Brown’s Enterprise

I saw these two at Spencer Sweeney’s opening. They’re both in black, in typical New York fashion but both have bits that are appealing. On the left is the insane asymmetry of the knitwear and grandpa glasses. On ther right I like the modified biker jacket and studded boots.

Actually both pairs of boots are great! I’d love to have a combined pair: the platform on the left with the buckles and studs on the right…and while I’m designing the perfect pair in my head let’s make the metal silver instead of gold…

Carrie & Don chillin’ at the bar

Sometimes we’re not trying to make a fashion statement. Sometimes we’re just out having a good time with friends. And the fact that we look good…is just a given. So here’s a little shout out to more subtle style…hope everyone is having a great and relaxing holiday weekend away from with family.

Citrus bright done right

People in New York shy away from color, but here’s a great example of a super bright done in a way that’s not overdoing it. The whole outfit is interesting without looking like she’s trying too hard.

Vintage Style at Ludlow Manor

I think I could post couples all week…maybe I will, we’ll see! I met Albert & Vanessa over the weekend and thought they had great energy and kind of fell for her old Hollywood vibe. I also noticed when I reviewed the shot that she’s wearing the Addison boots by Alexander Wang that I completely covet! And I kind of love how the red rim on his hat matches her lipstick. I’m sure that’s unintentional but works great in the photo.

Seen in Soho- asymmetrical seams courtesy Rick Owens

His whole look is fierce -and I don’t use that word lightly! But what’s especially intriguing are these pants by designer Rick Owns that can be unzipped to be flares. The way the zipper wraps around is insane!

more flatforms – to the extreme

With the all black, pink hair and super high flatforms he looks like he belongs to a rare religious sect…a really cool rare religious sect…

Golden Boy @ZIGZAGlebain #streetstyle

Yeah Thursday might be my new favorite night. And I’ll be stopping by again this Thursday after being a DJ with Jinna of Grease and Glamour for Raise Cache a fashion fundraiser…but I digress. Let’s talk about the boy here: great hair, love the jacket and shirt ensemble, and the piece de resistance – the animal skull around his neck – which sadly I don’t remember the specific live beast it once was…any ideas?
