In a simple silk shift dress and Jeffrey Campbell boots she’s ready for anything
I love dresses that you can simply thrown on and go out in. This dress is a perfect example of that. It has a loose cut but the asymmetrical seams keeps it from being boring. And her Jeffrey Campbell boots are beloved by city girls everywhere.

How to wear shorts in the City
When it warms up we want to wear shorts but sometimes it’s hard to know what to wear that will still look appropriate for the city. This girl nails it by avoiding denim and instead pairing simple pale shorts with a black textured leather top. The sandals are the final touch. The platform and chunky heel keep them comfy and sophisticated!

Casually cool in caramel colored flatforms and matching Hermes bag
I am seriously obsessed with flatforms: those flat platform shoes that are becoming a major spring trend. Creepers are cool but have a Brit punk vibe, and sometimes I’m not into that aesthetic. Her shoes are a take on men’s oxfords with a subtle stud and match her bag perfectly. And she wisely keeps the rest of her look comfy casual for walking around the city.
How to wear a sheer lace maxi skirt
I saw this girl today on Crosby Street and had to stop her. She is beyond adorable and was really sweet as well. I’ve seen alot of girls wearing sheer skirts with short skirts underneath. Hers kind of does double duty with a fitted solid top part above the sheer below which looks better to me than seeing a skirt underneath. She paired it with a modern floral top (which is not TOO “floral” which you guys know I’m not a fan of) and sandals with socks –another trend that while I know may look ridiculous but I just love.
p.s. and she is not “pretending to model” by putting her hand on her head, it actually was a bit breezy and she was controlling her hair!

Neon at night
While she was enjoying her drink, I was loving the acid yellow clutch as a nice counterpoint to the red and black. She definitely brings it all to the party!

Pretty in pink with white fishnets
I met Tony and Nadira as I was exiting an event that they were about to enter and thought they made a rather dashing couple: he with his ice blue bowtie and she with everything pink and white.

Bleach “printed” jeans at Pat Field’s
I always love to stop in at Pat Field’s store when I’m in the area and see what’s new and say hello to my fave club kids. I took this picture because I am intrigued by these bleached jeans. I did this ages ago in mom’s basement and I remember that aside from the bleach smell it was fun to try and figure out a pattern. I don’t know if I’d do this to long jeans again but it’s definitely something I’d consider for cut offs. I also love that the dog, Barbie, gets to go to work with her!

DIY: give your tired jean jacket a new life with a new look
The other night at WIP in the basement of Greenhouse I met JLamar and was utterly taken with his jacket. When I asked him who designed it he told me that he made it himself and while not as easy as buying something off the rack it’s not as hard as it first looks. He took a denim jacket and painted it black (okay, this is with some specific kind of paint and I can’t remember what he said so don’t just go grab the acrylics from your art class!) and then took a sequined dress from a thrift store and sewed it on the back and shoulders.
Again, you can tell thought and planning went into this: it’s designed –not just randomly sewn on. I love how the part of the pattern he chose to use works perfectly and the way he wrapped it around the shoulders to the front for an a re-interpretation of epaulets. Seriously nice work! I have a Helmut Lang shrunken jean jacket that I’ve had forever and don’t wear that often because I’m not much of a faded blue denim kind of girl so this is inspiring me to rethink the jacket…if I do something with it I’ll post it here. And maybe JLamar can help me! (hint hint ;) )
