So this is the last of the animations we did for 5Preview and I am wearing their WHAT EVER t-shirt. Which is kind of how I’m feeling today which reminded me to post it. I loved the whole project though and hope you all liked seeing the results!
If you’re at a legendary party in NYC chances are you’ll see this girl spinning. Kalkutta is a New York based turntablist and producer who has graced stages Internationally as well as a myriad of Television and Radio shows. As an infant, she was adopted from an orphanage in Kolkata, India by an American woman who gave her a chance at a brighter future. She went on to study music at NYU’s Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music and picked up deejaying in an effort to support herself while she learned how to produce her own music. She has since performed with the likes of Ke$ha, LMFAO, Karmin, A-Trak, Questlove, Samantha Ronson, and many more. She’s also provided soundtracks for brands ranging from Betsey Johnson, Diesel, and Adidas Originals to Ferrari-Maserati, the Discovery Channel, and Sephora.
When I started thinking of brilliant friends to ask for this project she was one of the first to come to mind. When I literally ran into her on the street that same day it was clearly meant to be! And it’s crazy how that fits perfectly with what she says she loves most about New York!
I love having the ability to check out a bunch of different venues and scenes every night- everything is so close together and there are always so many interesting parties going on 7 days a week- you never know who you might bump into!
How much do we love the holidays? All the glittery, sparkly things…but when it’s time to take down the decorations don’t you still want a little shine in your life? This week I’m giving away this gorgeous cocktail ring by BesoBeso from the Moss Collection created in California by Jacqueline Brown.
Jacqueline’s first ready to wear design, and a BesoBeso essential. Aphrodite combines ripple effect detailing with sparkling semi-precious brazillian amethyst stones. Imported Mexican Sterling Silver or 18K Italian Plated gold. One size fits most. It’s both bold and elegant and will become an instant favorite.
Giveaway starts now and winner announced on Sunday!
Do it all for more chances…and good luck!
I recently discovered the AK Vintage line designed by Anna Korte, a Portland based jewelry designer. Since 2002, AK Vintage has evolved from limited runs of jewelry made from deconstructed vintage necklaces to full collections made from a mixture of authentic vintage parts, recycled leather and castings made locally from one of a kind vintage findings. Inspired by sustainable solutions, production for all AK Vintage pieces are kept locally, handmade in Portland, OR.
Anna draws inspiration from nature’s geometry, literature and the history and age of the vintage pieces she incorporates into her designs. Every AK Vintage collection is inspired by Anna’s current favorite poet or piece of literature, largely motivating each collection’s design direction and perspective.
This week I’m giving away the Temple Veil body chain shown in the large photo above. It has a great stacked vintage silver bar center-piece on an oxidized brass double-link chain with a hand cast AK tag and snap clasp. The fluidity of the chain contrasts with the strength of the center bars to create a truly unique and beautiful piece.
