We are Wearable Art
One of the reasons I am passionate about photographing New York City nightlife is the incredible creativity and energy that is inherent in the scene. Granted you won’t find this kind of thing at your average bridge-and-tunnel bottle club, but at a few select parties around town people really are living breathing artworks.
This Thursday I will be on a panel, Wearable Art from Warhol to Westwood that speaks to this. Produced by Victor Corona, along with myself there will be former club kid Ernie Garcia aka Ernie Glam, designer Hally McGehean, author Thomas Kiedrowski and NYU Professor of Sociology of Style Media Anna Akbari. There will also be opening performances by Gerry Visco and SDNYC favorite Leo Gugu.
The after party will be at CATWALK, the new Thursday night party at Marquee hosted by the legendary Susanne Bartsch…and where I took these photos last week!

Susanne & Michael know how to party
Unless you live under a rock you know Susanne Bartsch knows how to put on a good party. And her new one at Marquee on Thursday nights is no exception and promises to give other Thursday night parties some stiff competition. Relative newcomer to the nightlife scene and friend Michael Fragoso is one of the co-hosts. Between the two they draw a crowd that is eclectic, cool and simply fun.

Halloween NYC style
I don’t know if you got the memo, but Halloween as we know it isn’t happening in New York City this year due to the hurricane damages. More than anywhere else Halloween in NYC is a holiday for grown ups and not just the herds of children in Park Slope. I personally was excited about 3 parties I was planning on attending: at Le Baron NYC where my friend Colleen Nika was going to DJ and Joseph Quartana as well as Cody Ross was one of the hosts. Then there was Halloween @ Westway where our fave pop star Natalia Kills was slated to perform and then finally the bacchanalia that is the party of the legendary Susanne Bartsch which was to be at the Copacabana. And that’s just what I personally was planning to hit up….sigh…
Sure a few parties have popped up for tonight instead but…really? I’m staying in tonight. But in the meantime thought I’d post some Halloweenesque pix. Not all of these are from Halloween celebrations but they’re all from amazing NYC nightlife parties and really there is very little difference!

Markus works the pumps.
Markus looks amazing in his heels…and you can see him along with Kenny Kenny, Suzanne Bartsch and Amanda Lepore tonight at the new party 42nd at the new club XL Nightclub in Times Square…which is an old school club. (remember those? No, me neither –but I will definitely check it out!)

I don’t know if she’s in costume exactly because at a Susanne Bartsch party, people definitely dress like however they feel, but I liked her look.
