white lace – what i’m wearing now

I’ve been wanting a pair of skinny grey jeans since seeing Kate Moss wearing them eons ago. I found some last year that I wasn’t super happy with but recently bought these at…Banana Republic. I put the dot.dot.dot. in because this isn’t a store I normally shop in because I’ve always considered it a bit more geared towards the corporate aesthetic (If corporate can be considered an aesthetic!) but ran in with a friend recently and ran right into these jeans. They’re a super pale grey and also really light weight so I picked up a pair. I’m wearing these with a vintage top and bag and Steve Madden shoes. And I am kind of amused that the wall behind me matches my outfit –and that is entirely unplanned!

Joey, Christina & Chase at The Standard

I met these three before the Erik Hart presentation at The Standard. The boys make music under the moniker The Black Soft. Joey is wearing vintage on top and Chase is wearing a top by Lars Andersson with his own re-made denim vest on top and both are wearing Ohne Titel on bottom. Christina is wearing vintage with Chloe boots and RayBans.
Details of Chase’s denim vest that he created himself. I LOVE this.
And a detail shot of the back. AMAZING n’est pas?
ps thank you Geoffrey for helping me understand my notes!

Another look from the tents

I was hoping to post a few reviews from recent shows up this morning but time got away from me! I’m going to Daryl K, Cut25 (where I’ll interview Yigal Azrouel) and Y-3 this afternoon before coming back to Brooklyn for a little break before the evening! So here’s a couple from yesterday. She’s wearing vintage and I love how she’s a study in beige except for the tips of her hair. He’s cute and the green sparkly top is fun…not convinced by the boots though!

Allan & Suzi

Where: 237 Centre Street between Broome & Grand
Mon-Sat 12pm-7pm; Sun 12pm-6pm

For 16 years, Allan Pollack and Suzi Kandel have been the first name in the retro-clothing business. Originally on the Upper West Side they re-located downtown in Spring 2011. This store is a true fashion lovers dream and a true vintage store. You won’t find flannel shirts or cut off jean shorts or anything that’s old masquerading as vintage. Instead look at Versace gowns, Kelly bags and Lanvin platforms. I’ve read reviews that Allan can be “cranky”. I personally found both Allan and Suzi to be utterly delightful and can only imagine that any “crankiness” was the result of someone not handling the garments properly. While it’s not cheap, don’t be afraid of the price tags. They’ll let you know that many things are 70% or more off of the price listed. So if you find something you love maybe you can find a price that will match.
